Hello Chuck and Fabin, we knew you were getting near our local waters. RoyEl said they had heard you on the radio as they left Mobile area. We were speaking of calling you to have Thanksgiving with us. RoyEl and Freedom's Turn are here. I see from your post you are staying in Niceville for the holiday. Have a great one!
Call us as you get near Panama City and maybe we can hook up for a little visit. 850-896-0705.

Hi, Mom & Chuck!
....just wanted to let y'all know that I really enjoyed seeing you both last week! I had a terrific time, and I am so glad that we were able to spend an early Thanksgiving together. Take care, and I hope to see y'all again soon! Love,
Angie
Comment by: Visitor (9/30/2008 9:29:29 AM) Congratulations on the milestone trip. When you tire of Exuma and are ready for the next adventure, give the western Caribbean a thought. It is a great hurricane hole here in the Rio Dulce of Guatemala and there are quite a few trawlers. We have done inland travel (fun and inexpensive) and traveled home to Texas for the last h season. It is really nice to leave the boat for a couple of months, then the adventure starts again when you return. Here, there are nice marinas, haul out facilities, mechanics, etc. at about 1/3 Florida prices. Espanol of course. We are still working with our old engine (heat exchanger now) and plan to do Belize again in late Oct., then back here to the river next June. We have bought guides for Panama, but that is a long range plan. Have fun, be safe, take it slow. Rodney and Katrina rodkat2@yahoo.com
Hey you guys, Carl and I have had many thoughts and prayers for your home town area since Ike raised his ugly head. We watch each of these storms as they enter the Gulf of Mexico and of course are relieved when they pass Panama City. This is not to say the compassion factor goes down. Keep the course and we hope to see you in Wheeler.
Please say hello to My Cin for us.

Could you tell me what kind of davits you have for your dingy. They appear to be the type I would like to have on my boat. Thank you and may your depth always exceed your draft.

Comment by: Visitor (8/10/2008 4:11:55 PM) I am impressed with your photo's - now I know why so little commentary - amazing. Looks like you are coordinating your pictures so we can see more of the country.
Fabin - this is a an early birthday note to you - have a happy!!
Stay safe!

Hi Folks, Well, I guess you know by now that we lucked out (again) on the Hurricane. So it was Goodby Dolly, not Hello Dolly. The wind around our house wasn't too bad, just made a bit more yard work for Bill. We shuffled all the boats into safe places so with just the 4.75 in. of rain, a islander can't complain, well, shouldn't complain. We love looking at your photos and hope everything continues to be jolly well good for you.
Take care, Ciao. Barbara and Bill
Comment by: Visitor (7/23/2008 6:42:14 PM) Hey, we are watching this storm hitting the TX coast and feeling for you. We know the pain, from here on the Gulf Coast in Folrida. Glad you and My Cin are, up the river, so to speak! At least you don't have to run for safety, I hope. Carl and Greg Vernon, Panama City, Fl M/V Main Stay
Hi Sailors and Sailorettes,
After a long time, we finally got a copy of your email and blog site. It is fantastic, and almost makes us jealous. Such beautiful pictures, but then, that's why y'all went in the first place.
So have a great time, and we'll be watching for more of your adventures. Take care,
Luv, Barbara, Bill and Billy
PS: How many blogs do you get from Non-humans? Huh?

Comment by: Visitor (5/21/2008 5:12:28 PM) I like your site and look forward to following your trip! My wife and I tried to meet you this past weekend. I saw your boat tied up on the outer dock accross from our boat! Unfortunately you where out!
We have the blue 40 ft. mainship trawler "GABANNA" in H dock accross from you!
We plan to attempt the Loop in 2-3 years when I finally take down the shingle and put on my captains hat and put away the surgeon hat!
Best of luck on your adventure.

Comment by: Visitor (3/29/2008 11:39:37 PM) Hi Guys, Took a couple of CEU classes yesterday at UH and one of the speakers was Lin Pardey. She and her husband did just what you two have accomplished. They took off on a sale boat with not GPS, modern gizmos, etc, and have written several books about their adventures. You might google them, really interesting. Woodlands Waterway ArtFestival is the 12/13 of April and then as usual I will be ready to relax for a time. This year I'm in charge of 250 Artist so it should go much easier than the past two years. Will be arriving in Providence RI on the 23 of June for a wedding the 28, and will be staying on the East Coast through the 5th of July. Would really like to hook up with you two in any of the dozens of places from Newport, Naragannset, Block Island, BOSTON has the GREATEST 4th of July celebration on the water. David may join me on the 1st as his 61st BD is the 3rd of July, We'd love to celebrate the 4th with ya'll. Could see you two there, and we can go out whale watching or to Provincetown to fish for Bluefish. Went to CC last Sun/Easter and came back Mon evening. Talked to Whit, saw Geles, and Margaret at Golds. All is well there. Nothing changed. Call/E-mail when you can. Becki
Hello you two !! We were at Dr Geffert's today and I asked about you and they gave me your web site. It looks like you are having a great time. We have been staying at the Ranch Friday to Monday and are getting the land ready for planting grass for cows !! Life sure is calm now, I'm sure it is for you as well. Let's keep in touch and who knows some day we will come and see you.
Always, Paula and Albert
Hello ~ just checking in. Looks like you could join the Bahamas Tourism - Entertainment/Hospitality committee !!
Weather in Texas has been really strange - 32 degrees in the morning and 60/70's. Snowed in Dallas earlier this week.
Will catch up to you later - have a great time with Whit!

Would like to join you somewhere along the way. What's your schedule? I just need to get away!! Chuck, have you heard all the stuff going on with Mike Carrell? He is always in the news - he was re-elected to the port and it is so controversial. You both are looking great!!! Talk to you soon. E-mail me and tell me you schedule - margaret@juliangold.com. Comment by: Visitor (1/25/2008 3:00:52 PM) I'm sitting at my office desk in Houston, with grey skies & a cold 40 degrees outside, and it's killing me to see your latest photo's of Little Harbor and Tahiti Beach. Beautiful!! Sure wish we were there right now! Looking forward to downing some Bahama Mamas with you & Fab next month.
Hey Fabin and Chuck!! Fabin, I can't believe I missed your call tonight. I had just been thinking about ya'll today and went to view your pictures online! Comment by: Visitor (1/18/2008 1:05:54 PM) Can you send me the name, phone number of the Resort/Marina - address so if something happens, I can get ahold of y'all. What is the weather prediction - photo's look great!
Fabin/Chuck - got your skype loud and clear - home/cell. We missed each other due to time diff I guess. Best to call 9 or 10PM CST or later, does not matter ~ mycin has my arrival stats. Call me if you wish...I can't wait to visit! See you at airport or up top Bahama's style!
It was nice seeing you guys in Marathon. Sorry we missed you when you returned from Miami, but we had the weather window when Katrina's dental work was just a filling--- not a crown. Isla Mujeres is great. Beer and food are cheap. Everyone is friendly, boaters and locals. There seems to be very little crime and a lot of just relaxing. There is a weather window for us to move south on Wed ( the one you may be taking to cross) but we like it so much here we will wait for the next one. Good winds and good health. Have fun in the Bahamas. Rodney and Katrina ps we have been using skype for calling home----recommend it.

Great Boat, Great Marina. You are living aboard - what does the inside of your boat look like? How roomy? Can you post pictures (after laundry day, of course! :-) )

Comment by: Visitor (8/6/2007 2:42:33 PM) Hi guys, From your pictures it looks like you haven't been bored, yet.And I'm please to see Fabin hasn't killed you, yet. We took a vote and determined we would rather see Whitney in a bathing suit than Chuck. Hot (93) and humid here. We had the wettest July on record. Nearly 20 inches of rain. The good news because of the raniy cloudy weather July was the coolest on record. stay dry... jim

Lyndsey will be in Austin this fall for her internship - 3-4 days a week then graduates in December - give Whit my numbers in case she needs anything - as usual. Comment by: Visitor (7/15/2007 11:44:12 AM) Thoroughly enjoyed all the new photo's. The lock pic's were impressive. The waterfall spot obviously was a great anchorage. Sure wish we were rafted up there with you. Interested to read that you're having second thoughts about the beach bikes vs. mountain bikes. Grant & Sheryl
Comment by: Visitor (7/13/2007 3:08:00 PM) Hey, you are seeing the people from which you sprang! Just middle America, down home type. Always enjoyed them on my trips to the midwest, although you are a little south of the old home. The Hornadays were from SC in the early generations, a bit east of where you are now. How neat that Whitney joined you guys. Our country is beautiful, and you have just begun to see the shots.
Will be keeping track every week at least. The locks must be a little scarey! They look that way, making you feel like a pea. Got a road map of the states to follow your trip. Judy and Bill
